I'll be leading an architectural sketch tour through several of the historic towns along the Dordogne River in the Midi-Pyrennes region of France this summer. Here's the general itinerary:
Day 1 – Collection from Toulouse Blagnac airport at rendezvous point 10am. Return to Perigord Retreats and unpack and settle. Opportunities to explore the village of Campagnac and paint in the studio. Potential to visit Gourdon if required.
Day 2 – Day 9 order to be decided, contingent on weather, circumstances, etc.
UNESCO world heritage site Lascaux - Full day trip to explore with picnic
Rocamadour and Gouffre de Padirac - One day trip with picnic lunch or eat at restaurant of own choice at own expense in Rocamadour
Sarlat La Caneda - Two half days, one to visit market and second to have repeat view of buildings. Note market days are Saturday and Wednesday which will require an 8.30 am departure.
Cougnaguet Water Mill - Half day visit
Cahors - Half day trip to market cathedral and brocante. Visit to River Lot with picnic for afternoon.
Saint Cirq Lapopie, Pech Merle Caves - Full day, lunch to be eaten in restaurant of own choice at own expense or picnic.
Carsac Church/Cingle De Montfort - Half day visit to take in both buildings, perhaps on return from a morning in Sarlat
Domme -Half day
La Roque Gageac - Part of a four hour canoe launching from Cenac and ending west of Beynac castle including picnic.
Grottes De Cougnac - Half day with lunch at Perigord Retreats
Beynac Castle and Castelnaud La Chapelle - One full day to take in both buildings and villages, picnic lunch or restaurant at own expense.
Floating day which may fit anywhere within the 10 day period to rest, relax and rejuvenate at Perigord Retreats
Day 10 – Return transfer to Toulouse Blagnac airport
